The Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra opens its season with the vibrant colours of the Baroque, bringing together English, Italian, and German masters in a sacred space with exceptional acoustics. Purcell’s famous Abdelazer Suite, excerpts from Bach’s timeless Orchestral Suite in D major, Handel’s dazzling Concerti grossi, and Vivaldi’s spirited Concerto for Four Violins showcase the era’s dazzling diversity. Dance movements alternate with noble string textures, balancing playfulness and grandeur. In this historic church, the intimate atmosphere and natural resonance create a perfect setting for Baroque orchestration. A one-hour journey through music history – without intermission, focused purely on the essence of sound.
Programme:
Purcell: Abdelazer Suite
Vivaldi: Concerto in B minor for Four Violins, RV 580
Bach: Excerpts from Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, BWV 1068
Handel: Selected movements from Concerti grossi, Op. 6
