The closing evening of the series proves that 20th-century music can be not only modern and daring, but also deeply beautiful. Alongside groundbreaking works by Bartók and Stravinsky, the programme features the much-loved waltzes of Shostakovich and Khachaturian, as well as excerpts from Leo Weiner’s Divertimento No. 1, a fine representative of the Hungarian chamber music tradition. Blending wit with depth and exploring unique sonic worlds, this concert offers a worthy finale to the season – in a fresh and unconventional venue, filled with vibrant energy.:
